About Xenia Watson
I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor. I trained in Newcastle-upon-Tyne at the Northern Guild for Psychotherapy and Counselling (accredited by BACP and UKCP). Apart from holding the Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, I also completed a One year course at Leeds Metropolitan University under Robin and Jane Walford and have a Certificate in Transactional Analysis.
For 5 years I have been working with Bereavement Care now The Herriot Hospice a Northallerton based Charity as a volunteer counsellor. I have also worked for the last year at an NHS GP practice in Middlesborough receiving many and varied referrals before setting up her own private practice in North Yorkshire.
I am CRB checked and have professional insurance cover.
I work with men and women of all ages and from different areas of life. I have supported clients involving a wide range of emotional struggles e.g low self confidence and self esteem, depression, anxiety, bereavement, anger, social isolation, ageing, relationship issues, struggles arising from chronic illness/conditions, work-related stress, separation, divorce and trauma.
My strength is in developing a trusting and empathic relationship with the aim of achieving the desired changes as efficiently as possible using my experience, knowledge and skills to the best of my professional ability.
My training, work experience and any achievement

Emotional struggles can often be a part of life, at times they can be overwhelming. Talking therapy can bring relief to these struggles. Talking therapies can also reduce the chances of symptoms returning and reduce or avoid the need for medication. Professionally guided talking allows one to develop awareness. This knowledge is the start to greater understanding of oneself and achieving the desired changes.
As an integrative therapist I draw upon a number of theories/therapies in particular Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to inform my work. Maintaining a compassionate, respectful, non-judgmental, contained yet open and empathic relationship is essential and helps determine the success of the counselling therapy.
I offer short, medium and long-term counselling depending on the issues presented and what work is required. Further Information
I practise from Rooms in the centre of Harrogate and also from my home just outside Northallerton. The sessions from my house are in a dedicated, private counselling room. My house is located outside the village of Thrintoft. I am 2.5 miles from A1 Leeming Bar turning, Northallerton 4 miles, Thirsk 12 miles, Bedale 6 miles, Catterick 11 miles.
